Canon Sure Shot TELE with twin focal lens - 40mm f2.8 and 70mm f4.9
The Canon Sure Shot TELE is a twin-focal-length camera, with 40mm f2.8 (4 elements, 3 groups) and 70mm f4.9 (7 elements, 6 groups) - which are switched between by a slider on the back. Sliding it to the left toggles between the two lengths, then it springs back to the right. The front of the camera springs out, with quite a recoil, by nearly 2cm.
The camera has a shutter that has a different speed range on either lens.
Programmed exposure is from .EV 6 - 18 (at ISO 100); with the 40mm lens, f/2.8 at 1/8 sec. - f/22 at 1/500 sec. The 70mm lens allows f/4.9 at 1/3 sec. - f/27 at 1/350 sec.
This is presumably to equalize the EV range with the different apertures forced by the different focal lengths.
It also has a switchable soft-focus filter, selected by the thumb-wheel beside the lens, and an exposure-compensation switch that increases the exposure for backlit or reflective subjects. The only other exposure control is a flash mode switch (off / auto / forced on) on the back.
This excellent and innovate and very advanced for its time camera was Introduced in 1986, also known as the TOP TWIN (Europe) and Autoboy Tele (Japan).
The camera is in "Like New" condition, comes with quite rare original leather Canon case and ready to take pictures
